Live Blogging from Region VII
What a day! It started at 4 am with my alarm going off. My colleagues in housing picked me up at 5:20 am for our 6:55 am flight. We arrived in New Orleans on time (mostly) and got settled in at the hotel. By 10:15 am, we were headed to the French Quarter to eat beignets and drink cafe au lait at Cafe du Monde.

After lunch at Acme Oyster Bar and a nap, we headed out again to see more of the sights of the French Quarter. At one point we came accross Dan the rapping shoe-shine man. Do not engage Dan in conversation. Funny guy. We managed to walk away with our wallets much lighter...
The opening session was tonight. Short and sweet! After the session, the conference provided an excellent buffet of cheese, pastas, crab cakes, fruit, and drinks. What a spread! We ran into our colleagues from UNT and took this group picture. Look how well represented the Mean Green are at NACADA!

After the reception, a group of us went out on Bourbon Street. UNT, NCTC, and several Arkansas schools mingled with national NACADA President Casey Self and had a great time!
We are all looking forward to attending the sessions tomorrow. The three of us (Derek Gates, Ben Taylor, and myself) are attending the new participants breakfast in the morning. Bright and early!!!
More soon!!
